The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvasses, stretchers and attachments are in generally good condition. There are very soft vertical stretcher marks visible. There is an continuous abrasion across the two parts in the lower centre area. (ii) The canvas is slack to the stretcher. Examination under ultraviolet light shows no indication of inpainting. It is our opinion that the work is in good condition.
