Lot Essay

Born in 1959, and a student at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts between 1982-1988, Czech artist Kateřina Štenclová is known for her expressive abstract paintings. Interested in the relationship between paint, surface, and perception, Štenclová’s works are dynamic distillations of form and colour. Often working onto ready-made polythene supports, her kaleidoscopic paintings and installations explore the mesmeric interactions of organic and geometric shape.
