Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The work is structurally sound. The paper is slightly loose from the masonite in places in the centre. The sheet undulates slightly. The sheet has yellowed. The impasto is slightly flattened in places. There is some yellowing in places, coherent with the nature of the oil paint. Sheet has yellowed. There are artist's pinholes in all corners and to the centre upper and lower edges. There are a few minute craquelures visible to the black impasto. There is some soft surface dust and dirt in places. When examined under ultra violet light, two minute inpaintings fluoresce, around the pinholes in the upper left corner and on the centre upper edge. It is our opinion that the work is in good condition.
