The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The work is structurally sound. The sewn plush fabric and stretcher are in generally good condition. The sewn plush fabric is laid down on linen fabric and mounted on a four members wooden stretcher. The plush surface appears fresh and clean, the tension of the fabric is adequate throughout. There are surface irregularities in places, coherent with the nature of the material used. In natural light no obvious damages can be detected, except for a soft stain, barely perceptible in the centre of the upper half. Examination under ultraviolet light shows no indication of inpainting. It is our opinion that the work is in very good condition.
