‘At one point, as I was working on a painting with a brush, and white and black paint, I noticed that there was some paint left behind on the brush. The paint on the brush had the same texture, it corresponded with the paint on the canvas.
Eventually the right-hand painting became the brush for the left-hand painting.
In fact, I am not particularly interested in how the idea (painting) has turned out. Since you are painting with paint, unexpected and unpredictable things happen – fortunately.
For instance: I have a black painting and a white painting, the same size, and I brush the one with the other from left to right. Then I walk right out the door’ – Rob van Koningsbruggen
