L'opera fu selezionata dall'Arazzeria Italia Disegno di Ugo Scassa, insieme a un gruppo di altre quindici opere (dipinte da artisti come Capogrossi, Santomaso, Corpora e Cagli), dopo che Scassa nel 1960 vinse il concorso per la decorazione del Salone delle Feste di Prima Classe della turbonave Leonardo da Vinci e decise quindi di abbinare l'arte d'avanguardia con una delle arti applicate tra le più antiche, la tessitura di arazzi, realizzando versioni in tessuto con gli stessi motivi. Alcuni di questi arazzi sono tuttora parte delle collezioni della Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Roma.

The work was selected by Arazzeria Italia Disegno by Ugo Scassa, together with a group of other fifteen works (painted by artists such as Capogrossi, Santomaso, Corpora and Cagli) after 1960 when Scassa won the competition for the decoration of the First Class ballroom of Leonardo da Vinci's turboship and therefore decided to combine avant-garde art with one of the oldest applied arts, tapestry weaving, realising fabric versions with the same motifs. Some of these tapestries are still part of the collections of Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Roma.
