"Per me il manifesto non conta solo in quanto tale, ma anche per la sua attualità, il suo colore, cioè, acquista un senso nuovo, in quanto riescono a introdurre una vera novità nel mio rapporto quotidiano con la strada. Ed è la molla creativa del colore che fa scattare la mia volontà di lacerazione, tutto quel complesso di fatti che si riposa infine nel mio quadro. Perché una cosa è la lacerazione che io opero nella strada, quando il manifesto mi appare come un momento culminante della natura, e un'altra è la lacerazione che nel mio studio aderisce a un ordine non solo naturale, ma di corrispondenza alle mie esigenze di visione, e di creazione di qualcosa che sia, anche sotto l'aspetto di 'ready-made', una metafora del mondo"

"Posters are not only important to me as such, but also because of their modernity, that is, their colours acquire new meaning since they manage to introduce a true novelty in my everyday relationship with the street. And it is the creative impulse of the colour that triggers my desire of laceration, all that complex of facts that finally lays in my picture. Because one thing is the act of ripping that I perform in the streets, when the poster appears to me as a culminating moment in nature, and another is the ripping which, in my studio, adheres to a not-only natural order, but of correspondence to my vision necessities, and of creation of something that is, also under the 'ready-made' aspect, a metaphor of the world"
