The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is taut and paint layer is stable. Mostly consistent with the artwork's status at the originating gallery, pinpoints of peeling and paint losses primarily to the upper half of the work, and soft horizontal creases through hair of the two figures. Under raking light, fine horizontal cracks on the black jumper above the fire. When inspected under ultraviolet light, there is no apparent inpainting. It is our opinion that the work is in overall very good condition.
