The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Both pieces were examined within their farmes and the sides thus could not be checked.
Panel: The panel is straight and the paint layer is stable. Upon close inspection, small abrasions in-between red lines. Faint marks in a few places. A negligible dent to the extreme bottom edge. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no apparent inpainting. It is our opinion that the work is in overall very good condition.
Canvas: The canvas is taut and the paint layer is stable. Handling marks, stretcher marks, and associated hairline cracks along the edges. Fine craquelures in the lower right quadrant, appear stable. Additional hairline cracks and minor rubbing occasionally to the surface. Small oblique scratches in parallel around the checkered composition, presumably studio related. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no apparent inpainting.
