The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
It is in our opinion that the work is in overall good condition. The work was inspected within its frame, but the reverse is visible, and the sides are partially visible. Three horizontal and one vertical strips of stretcher marks associated with faint abrasion and dirt marks across the surface and on the left side. Minute abrasion on the four corner tips. Network cracks and craquelures scattered occasionally on the heavy green impasto paint areas. Drying craquelures are found on several heavy white impasto paints which is consistent with the artist’s chosen medium and working method. A few faint dirt marks scattered over the surface. Upon close inspection, a tiny canvas tear in the upper middle which is mended from the back. When examined under ultraviolet light, no apparent retouching can be seen.
