Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Oil on canvas. Not lined. Slightly varnished. Some frame abrasion with associated areas of rubbing, lines of craquelure and spots of paint losses in places along the extreme edges. A very few artist's tack holes at the left part of the upper edge and along the right edge. The stretcher and the canvas undulates, mainly at the centre of the upper and lower stretcher bars. Some fine stable craquelures in places in the lighter impastos, a very few with associated minute paint losses in places. Examined under ultraviolet light: a few small spots of retouching in the aforementioned tack holes that have been filled-in. It is our opinion that this work appears to be in generally good condition.
