拍品專文

Sir William Agnew, 1st Bt. (1825-1910) was the second generation of the famous art dealing firm Thomas Agnew & Sons which was founded by his father in 1817. Starting as an apprentice in 1840 with his brother Thomas, they became partners of the firm which was then based on Exchange Street, Manchester. He became the guiding force of the firm overseeing the opening of their London gallery in 1860 before retiring in 1861.
