The archive of Cyril Quixano Henriques, 1930-1967
22 folders of assorted documents containing c.200 original letters, with a number of retained copies. Also containing ephemera such as a copy of Henriques’s birth certificate, printed material relating to the Palestine pavilion at the ‘British Empire Exhibition’, photographs from visits to Brazil, and scientific papers on irrigation. Provenance: Sotheby's, 22 July 1982, lot 189.

The archive of the British civil engineer and prominent Zionist, Cyril Quixano Henriques. The letters concern a variety of topics: in the 1930s, primarily the Zionist Executive and the Jewish Agency; later, mostly regarding property in Israel. Other topics include finance, agriculture, engineering – e.g. the destruction of dams along the Nile and the consequences for Israel – and the trial of Adolf Eichmann.
