Concerning his absence at the committee meeting owing to illness. ‘I regret not having been able to attend the first meeting of the committee responsible for the programme arrangements in connexion with the forthcoming Poetry Recital. I was ill in hospital’. He confirms his attendance at the next meeting, ‘at Mr Kilham Roberts’ flat at 2.45pm Thursday March 28’.

The letter relates to one of the committee meetings for ‘A Recital of Poetry of the Past and Present’, hosted by the Society of Authors on 14 May 1946 at Wigmore Hall in London.
