The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work is in good condition. It may be slightly dirty. There are three small paint losses in the lower center. There is one small loss in a dark brushstroke in the upper center. There is a loss in the lighter color to the right of the tallest of the figure on the right. The instability is still active and should be corrected immediately before any other pigment is lost. Under ultraviolet light, one can see retouches in the upper center across some pentimenti and in the lighter pigment in the upper left corner. The cracking is slightly raised in areas throughout the work, particularly across the top and in the upper right. This can be relaxed significantly without lining the canvas. The labels adhered the reverse would have to be removed prior to this process. The work would also probably respond well to cleaning and a light varnish.
