The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This condition report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work is unlined but the tacking edges have been reinforced. The original stretcher has been replaced. The extremely heavy paint layer has cracked throughout. It does not seem that any paint losses have occurred, except possibly in the lower right corner beneath the signature, across the bottom edge, a few tiny spots in the lower left, and a few in the center of the right side. The raised cracking is extremely visible, and this is a work that should be lined to preserve the paint layer. The condition would be very good if the work were lined.
