The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Lauren Rich, LOWY:
The artwork is an oil painting executed on a masonite panel. The substrate is in good condition and the verso bears the writing: "Charles G. Shaw, 1942". The oil based ground and media layers are in stable condition, but exhibit discolored restoration within the white rectangular element; one small, circular spot within the upper left, two small areas within the the upper right, and a larger discoloration in the lower right. Ultraviolet examination confirms these findings and shows a fluorescence of a synthetic resin varnish above the media layers. The painting appears to be free of any surface soiling, and is in otherwise stable condition.
