The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work is in beautiful condition. The canvas is still stretched on its original stretcher. If the canvas were tightened, the work should be hung in its current state. The paint layer is unvarnished. Under ultraviolet light, the large white lily in the center facing to the left and the three white flowers in the lower center left show small spots of purple color under ultraviolet light, which may correspond to retouches. However, the same purple fluoresce can be seen in the white flowers in the lower right, which does not appear to be retouching. Regardless, these spots are minor, and the condition of the painting is excellent.
