The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work on canvas has been lined onto Mylar using wax as an adhesive. The lining is reasonably adequate, but the paint layer in the upper left is developing some cracks which are beginning to become unstable. The painting is clean and varnished. No retouches are apparent under ultraviolet light. There may be a couple of tiny losses in the right sleeve of the portly gentleman on the left, and one small spot above his head in the white wall. The work is otherwise in very good state, but the lining should probably be replaced in order to secure the paint layer.
