The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
The work is unlined and well stretched. There is one very slight depression in the canvas in the upper right corner that could easily be corrected. The work is attractively varnished. Under ultraviolet light, one can see a few spots of retouching in the extreme upper left corner. The figure is unretouched. There are some marks in her hip and upper right thigh, which are visible to the naked eye and show slightly under ultraviolet light. These may be small scratches to the paint layer that could be corrected. All other pigment that reads darkly under ultraviolet light is original to the artist. There is another slight horizontal scratch in the side of the bathtub in the black pigment in the lower left. These minor issues should be corrected, but the work could be hung as is.
