Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Lauren Rich, LOWY:
The artwork is an oil painting executed on a medium wove linen canvas which is adhered to a wooden panel. The panel is mounted onto a five-member stretcher which is backed with oxidized linen. The oil based ground and paint layers are in good and stable condition. Ultraviolet examination reveals a fluorescence of careful in-painting covering small, scattered pockets of abrasions, a loss in the upper right quadrant, and a scratch with associated losses in the lower right quadrant. Upon visual inspection, the artwork appears to be clean with a recent layer of synthetic resin varnish above the media layers. The painting is signed at the lower left: "Irving R. Wiles". The artwork is in good condition requiring no treatment at this time.
