The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work has been restored. The restorations are primarily focused on a break or fold in the canvas, which runs horizontally through the center of the sky. Retouches to this break measure about 1 ½ inches at the widest point and extend down to a very thin line on the far left. These retouches have visibly discolored. Besides this fairly extensive restoration, other retouches have blanched and are quite visible to the naked eye in the river and a few isolated spots in the hills beyond. In the landscape in the foreground, the darker colors in the trees on the left fluoresce quite strongly, but this seems to correspond to original pigment. No other weakness or restoration of any note is apparent in the foreground. Aside from the horizontal break in the sky, the condition is generally very good.
