The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This condition report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work has been lined using wax as an adhesive onto a solid support, possibly Masonite or aluminum, which in turn is backed with linen. There are retouches across the top edge in the tree and possibly a couple of spots within the tree. It can be seen that the paint layer in the tree has become slightly unstable over time, and there are very small losses here. The wall, figure and remainder of the foreground seem to be in good condition. The condition would be very good if the lining were removed, and the painting cleaned and accurately retouched.
