The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This condition report was prepared by Julius Lowy Frame & Restoring Company, Inc.:
The artwork is a gouache painting executed on an age appropriately oxidized millboard support. The gouache media layers, which have been applied directly to the support, exhibit some fading which is evident by examining all four edges of the painting. There is a graphite circle, which has the diameter of approximately 1 inch, drawn above the central flag in the top center of the sky. There are also three small drip stains within the rock above the artist’s signature where the paint is eroded. In raking light only several visible scuff marks are visible above the white bull’s head. There is no presence of flaking or crazing within the media layers. Ultraviolet examination reveals a normal fluorescence of the artist’s materials with no prior restoration visible. Upon visual inspection, the artwork appears to have a noticeable amount of surface soiling above the media layers. The artwork is signed at the lower left.
