The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This is a double-sided work.
The composition of two women on a boardwalk seems to be painted in oil. The paint layer has slightly shriveled areas, particularly in the sky, and there is some shrinkage in the darker brown glazes of the two figures. It seems that the texture in the sky could be greatly improved with careful retouching. There are also a couple of losses in the upper left.
The composition of the woman on a carousel seems to be painted in tempera. It is dirty, and there is a vertical drip in the right forearm. The varnish could be freshened. There are some patchy darker areas under ultraviolet light, but these do not seem to correspond to retouching.
