The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This painting does not appear to have ever been cleaned. There is a small reinforcement on the reverse in the center addressing a small break in the canvas, just below the neck in the blue dress. There are two unretouched losses in the upper left and one in the upper right. There are a few scratches in the lower right. The canvas should be tightened or re-stretched. The painting can then be lightly cleaned and varnished, and retouches applied where necessary. The patch on the reverse can probably remain, but a small amount of retouching to the corresponding area in the neck should be applied.
