A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work is in very good condition. The canvas is lined with wax. The paint layer is stable. At the top of the pavilion with the flag on top on the left side, there is a 1 inch horizontal damage that has attracted some retouching. There is some abrasion to the paint layer in the shoreline in the lower right corner which extends towards the horses. The horses, figures, sky, and the remainder of the picture seem to be very healthy. The signature in the lower left has not been cleaned to the degree of the rest of the picture.
