The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work on Masonite has never been restored. It is noticeably dirty and dull. Some instability has become apparent in the trees in the upper center. There are about a dozen existing losses here that could become more evident if the picture is not stabilized. The paint layer otherwise seems to be in lovely condition. Some of the artist’s original color reads strongly under ultraviolet light, for instance in the shadowed grass and in the cows. There is some pentimenti immediately to the right of the tree trunk that show strongly, but these are original. In general the condition is extremely good, but the work does require some attention, particularly in the upper center.
