This report was prepared by Alvarez Fine Art Services, Inc.:
This watercolor, gouache and pencil on paper is in fair condition overall. The paperboard does not present tears. The work was executed on an original paperboard support which consists of a paper layer mounted to a 1/8" thick acidic paper-pulp board. Exposure to humidity over time has caused mild planar concave bow and a 3" section of the upper edge, 10" in from the right edge where the paper layer is separating from the acidic board support. Poor handling has contributed to three minor creases at the extreme corners at the top left, and top and bottom right. There is one small paper loss at the extreme top left corner. There is one small surface abrasion to the left of the signature near the bottom edge. Visually, the paper layer is mildly oxidized throughout from contact with acidic material and a natural process of aging due to light exposure. There is a 3" long darker discoloration along the
right edge likely from a frame rabbet. A mild field of scattered incipient foxing is present, mostly visible in the sky area. Although some degree of fading is to be expected for a work of art of this age, the media appears to be well preserved.
