Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Steve Tatti, S.A.T. Inc.:
The painted surfaces of these wooden sculptures have experienced several chips to what seems to be the original black finish with selective gilding. Many of these areas of loss have been painted red, likely as a previous form of restoration, while others appear to be more recent losses and reveal the natural wood. The base, and the wooden rods attaching the dolphins to the base, do not appear to be original.
