The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Alvarez Fine Art Services, Inc.:
Overall this pastel & charcoal on paper is in good condition and does not present tears, paper losses, or planar distortions. 1 3/8" in from the left edge there is a noticeable vertical line in the paper that extends from the top to bottom edge indicating where there is a join in the paper. The entire sheet of paper is lined to a mulberry tissue paper to support and insure the flatness of the join. Visually, there is a very minor difference in the tone of the paper surrounding the join. This is probably from a support tape on the verso at one time now removed, which acted as a buffer from acidic material, preventing it from toning at the same rate as the rest of the paper over time. In general the paper is mildly oxidized throughout from contact with acidic material and a natural process of aging due to UV light exposure. In addition there are some diagonal lines in the upper left quadrant of the image which are most probably original to the time of execution. None of these visual disturbances are any real consequence. Otherwise, the pigments appear rich and undisturbed.
