This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work is unlined and still on its original stretcher. The paint layer is clean, retouched and varnished. The retouches are well applied. Under ultraviolet light, one can see retouches running across the center through the figures, beginning on the right side in the red cardigan of the sleeping figure and extending intermittently towards the trousers of the standing figure on the left. There are also a few small retouches in the chair above the dog in the lower right, and a few spots of retouching in the upper right and lower right corners. The work can be hung in its current state.
