Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation Inc.:
This work has recently received some restoration. Retouches have been applied in a vertical line running directly to the right of the poplars in the left of the sky. This line appears to address the effects of some moisture. The present retouches are quite successful. There has been no abrasion to the work. The canvas is not lined, and there is no discoloration. A few other retouches could be applied at some point to slight weakness across the bottom edge in the shadow of the snow. However, the work is quite healthy and looks well.
