The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Alvarez Fine Art Services Inc.:
This pencil on paper is in stable condition overall. The paper is mounted with photo mount adhesive tissue to an acidic board. Even though the work is mounted there are two visible vintage folding creases; one horizontal 6" down from the top edge and a vertical crease 11 1/2" in from the left edge, both extend from edge to edge. During the mounting process multiple raised creases were created and are mostly visible in the upper left quadrant. There are two mended tears: one at the bottom edge, 11 1/2" in from the left edge where the vertical fold opened before mounting- approximately 5 1/2" in length, and at right edge 9 1/2" down from the top edge -1 3/4" long with a small paper loss at the extreme edge. There is an additional small paper loss to lower-right corner. Visually, the paper is mildly oxidized from contact with acidic material and a natural process of aging due to light exposure. There is a moderate double mat burn from two different previous acidic mat openings. There are a few unexplained whitish spots scattered throughout the lower right quadrant area. Otherwise, the pencil media appears well preserved.
