Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation Inc.:
This work has been restored. The canvas has been lined. The reason for the lining is a 12 inch long jagged break in the canvas beginning in the sky in the upper left and extending vertically into the mountains, as well as some severe instability and paint loss down the right edge extending into the picture as much as 6 inches. There is one other isolated loss in the center of the left side. The stretcher has been replaced. The retouching is quite competent, and it is not recommended that any of the restoration be revisited.
