Lot Essay

DuBois F. Hasbrouck was born in Pine Hill, New York, in 1860. Working in the style of the Hudson River School, Hasbrouck primarily painted landscapes; he widely exhibited his paintings at venues including the National Academy of Design in New York and the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago. His work is in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C., and the San Diego Museum of Art, California.
