GEORGE III (1738-1820). Document signed ("George R") as King of Great Britain and Ireland, Weymouth, September 1801.

Six pages, 300 x 187mm, bound with blue silk ribbon along spinefold, with intact paper and wax seal (light dustsoiling at left margin).

"Our Good Friends the United States of America." George III orders the Lord Chancellor Lord Eldon to affix the Great Seal to the "Full Power" granted to the Foreign Secretary Lord Hawkesbury, authorizing him to "treat and agree with the Minister or Ministers of Our Good Friends the United States of America, duly authorized thereunto. A copy of the aforementioned "Full Power," is included, stating that the negotiations are for the purpose of "promoting and maintaining a mutual Friendship, good understanding, and commercial intercourse," between the two nations.
