拍品專文

Carleton Varney (1937-2022) was a famed American interior designer and the protégé of Dorothy Draper. He worked closely with Draper on the design of the famed Greenbrier hotel in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and took over its design, as well as the whole Draper firm, when Dorothy retired. He hosted a television show on interior design in the 1960s, and during the Carter administration he oversaw the restoration, curation and decoration of the presidential yacht. He also assisted the Carters styling White House State Dinners and Luncheons as well as in decorating the Carter's log cabin in Ellijay, Georgia. The present service was designed by Varney for Rosalynn Carter.
