One page, 390 x 497mm, printed in four columns, boldly headed "John Adams President of the United States," accomplished in manuscript with intact paper and wax seal (strong crease at left edge, faint horizontal fold spanning Adams' signature, minute mounting remnants on the verso). Countersigned by Timothy PICKERING (1745-1829) as Secretary of State. Framed with a portrait.
A four language ship's passport additionally signed by Robert PURVIANCE (1733-1806) as customs collector of the city of New London and Richard LAW (1784-1806) signing as "Mayor of the City of New London."
