The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The Chinese mirror painting: overall very vibrant, with the typical tiny losses to the silvering scattered throughout, commensurate with age, most prominently around the edges and along a vertical through the rightmost peony and lower bird. Each side of the mirror with the typical scattered superficial scratches, commensurate with handling, and the typical dust or debris around the edges, mostly obscured by the frame. The mirror plate not unframed for inspection.
The frame: overall in good order, structurally sound and ready to wire and hang. With scattered chips, losses to carving and gilt surfaces revealing gesso, bole and bare wood in areas as to be expected with handling; the surface gilt with an overall 'distressed' finish. A few tight cracks to the raised scrolls at the front of the frame, none of these through to the rails or affecting the stability of the frame. Overall good appearance.
