The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The Chinese mirror painting: overall vibrant, with the typical tiny losses to the silvering scattered throughout, commensurate with age, mostly concentrated around the upper right corner. A few small areas of more prominent desilvering above the horizon at the left side and just above the tree at the upper edge (the largest area, above the horizon at the left edge, approx. 1 in. long and 1⁄2 in. wide). Each side of the mirror with the typical scattered superficial scratches, commensurate with handling, including some small losses to the painting at the gentleman's face. The typical dust or debris around the edges, mostly obscured by the frame. The mirror plate not unframed for inspection.
The frame: with slight separation to the joints at the corners and a few tight cracks along the lower edge, but overall in good order, structurally sound and ready to wire and hang. With scattered chips, losses to carving and gilt surfaces revealing gesso, bole and bare wood in areas as to be expected with age. The reverse stabilized with 4 pine planks, secured by old screws, the edges of the planks with a fair amount of old chips.
