拍品專文

The pattern for this stool is based upon the design for a bench-end illustrated in the Val d'Osne catalogue, plate 9226. The production of cast-iron garden ornament and furniture reached its peak in France during the latter half of the 19th century, with numerous Parisian fonderies creating a wealth of garden furniture in this ideal medium. The Société Anonyme du Val d'Osne was no exception, being responsible for some of the finest-quality workmanship in the field. The Company changed ownership twice in the late 1860s, from the well-renowned firm of Barbezat, to the Société Anonyme Val d'Osne in 1870.
