The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Not examined outside of frames. Each with the expected surface soiling and light staining. Each with undulation to the sheet. Each with possible frame abrasion to the extreme edges and pinpoints of foxing. Additional condition as noted below. Please note the frames are sold as is.
(A) 271⁄2 x 35 in., framed; inscribed '1839.' The paper overall with creasing and scratches with associated minor pigment losses. With three possible vertical repairs along the lower edge. With scattered minor water stains.
(B) 211⁄2 x 293⁄4 in., framed; inscribed 'Luigi Foazza pi-' and 'ERUZIONE DEL 1850'. Overall with additional scattered spots of foxing and discoloration.
(C) 20 x 241⁄2 in., framed; inscribed 'Eruzione 9. Xbre. 1861.' The lower left quadrant with restorations. Overall with creasing, abrasions, and associated pigment losses. With foxing throughout.
(D) 20 x 241⁄2 in., framed; inscribed 'ERVZIONE DE 18. AGOSTO 1805.' The sheet overall with undulation and soft creasing.
(E) 181⁄4 x 231⁄2 in., framed; inscribed 'NUOVO VULCANO IN SICILIA LONTANO DA SCIACCA 25. MIGLIA 15. AGOSTO 1831. / Mr Mauton stradae S. Carlo No.32.' With additional scattered areas of foxing.
(F) 18 x 22 in., framed; With scattered minor water stains.
(G) 161⁄2 x 211⁄2 in., framed; inscribed 'ERUZIONE DEL 1812.' With scattered areas of water staining to the margins and to the image at center.
(H) 161⁄2 x 213⁄4 in., framed; inscribed 'ERUZIONE DEL 1812.'
(I) 141⁄2 x 19 in., framed; the canvas loose on its stretchers. The varnish has yellowed notably to the sky at right. With a small repaired puncture in the canvas in the red smoke with associated restorations. With notable areas of paint loss exposing the canvas underneath along the lower edge of the composition. Examined under ultraviolet light. Further inspection hindered by an uneven milky varnish.
(J) 101⁄2 x 131⁄2 in., framed; inscribed 'Eruz. del 1861'.
