Overall in sound, decorative condition. With typical scattered nicks, marks, scuffs and scratches. The lacquer panels with some cracking, lifting and small losses. Some areas of in-painted restoration. The Japanned decoration with some lifting, flaking, and losses, revealing bole and bare-wood in some areas. With some further nicks around the extreme edges, and to the underside of lid and edge of interior, consistent with use. The mounts with some very light rubbing, some loss to the incised decoration as to be expected with age, and some areas slightly bent out of shape. With some small chipped losses to the underside of the base to the scalloped edges and some nicks to the corners. The silk lining with light staining and some marks, consistent with use. No key. Presents well overall.
