Lot Essay

“Truman’s closets are bursting with hats and shoes. He’s big on accessories because he likes his outfits to be coordinated. If his bowtie is maroon so are his socks. His favorite colors are maroon, mustard, pink, peach, and brown. Truman tells everybody, ‘Halston says I’m very brave to wear brown.’” (A. Warhol, Exposures, London 1979, p. 145)
