This October, Christie’s presents the second edition of Anime Starts Here: Japanese Subculture Reimagines Tradition, an online auction exploring the subcultural movements and its pronounced impact that have shaped contemporary global culture.

This sale brings an even stronger focus on anime and manga, with a fantastic selection featuring some of the most celebrated titles – Dragon Ball, Pokémon, Sailor Moon, and many beloved works from Studio Ghibli. Additional highlights include vintage film posters from the iconic Godzilla franchise, Akira, and My Neighbor Totoro, as well as video games from the Mario, Dragon Quest, and Fullmetal Alchemist franchises. We’re also excited to present original drawings by pioneering artists Osamu Tezuka, Fujiko Fujio, and Rumiko Takahashi, alongside soft vinyl figures from Ultraman.
