The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Both presenting well overall, with the typical imperfections in the making including craquelure at heightened decoration and fabrication slightly out-of-round; scattered areas of inpainting over losses to the lacquer at each; one vase with large restored cracks near the shoulder; the other vase with a crescent-shaped section (approx. 7 in. x 23⁄4 in.) at the rim previously off and in two sections, both reattached, the interior of the neck with a long glaze line or hairline, not apparent from the exterior, a Y-shaped firing crack across the underside, in the making; each with printed and inscribed Ann and Gordon Getty Collection inventory label.
