Lot Essay

The form of this honey pot is based on a model by English silversmith Paul Storr, first produced in 1792 at the beginning of his career. Examples have been sold at Christie's, London, 14 November 2018, lot 566, and Christie's, New York, 26 October 2007, lot 165. A further example from the collection at Knole is illustrated in N.M. Penzer, Paul Storr, 1771-1844: Silversmith and Goldsmith, London, 1954, pp. 104-105.
