The crest is that of Webster for Baron Dickinson Webster (1818–1860) of Penns Hall, Sutton Coldfield. The son of Joseph Webster, Baron was in fact his first name and not a title of rank. Webster had many business interest in the railways as well as in the manufacture of steel wire. His company, Webster & Horsfall Limited of Hay Mills Birmingham, manufactured the steel wire which encased the first successful Trans-Atlantic telegraph cable laid in 1866.
