The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall in good condition, probably re-gilt, the agate with some natural veining and inclusions as well as minor scratches as to be expected, two fork handles with gilt-metal bands around the agate covering repaired breaks, the silver-gilt tines and blades with some minor scratches, good golden gilding color, engraved decoration clear, presents well, tines mostly straight and even with very minimal wear to ends, the case of a light wood with one lift-out tray, the interior lined with blue felt, the felt with some minor wear and fading, the exterior with some minor nicks and scratches as to be expected, the hinged cover with an unengraved brass plaque to the top, lacking a key and lacking escutcheon, charming presentation.
